“WORKING TOGETHER: YOUNGSTERS, PARTICIPATION AND CITYZENSHIP “
PLATFORM NETWORK - FOR EUROPEAN YOUTH ACTIVITIES
The is a network for co-operation
in the youth sector integrated by more than sixty European entities (regions,
municipalities, states,…).
This network was created in 1986 in Luxemburg. Its main goal is the promotion
of youth mobility and social exclusion prevention by camps and youth exchanges
and other youth activities having to do with international mobility. It
is one of the most active European networks in the Youth-work field. Several
projects and initiatives in the field of youth mobility are made.
Murcia City – Council became an affiliate in
2002, during Kokkola (Finland) meeting, being nowadays an active and full
– right member.
Youth exchanges (bilateral and multilateral), international co-operation
youth policies, EVS, job – shadowing, etc,… are the main goals
of the Platform Network
Once a year it takes place the General Assembly, where
the following items are dealed:
- Decision making and new members incorporation.
- Last year activities evaluation.
- Presentation and approval of raised activities
for next year.
- Decision making and approval of the countries where
General Assembly will take place in the two following years.
Due to the active participation in activities organized
by the Platform, the city of Murcia was proposed for organizing the General
Assembly of 2007.
The main purpose of this meeting is the accomplishment
of the Assembly of 2007 and preparing the next one, in 2008 which will
be hold in Poland.
It was set that it would be also very important to make a complementary
evaluation of activities and projects which have been developed together
during 2007.
The
fundamental goal is to open a space for evaluation about effective participation
of young people in the projects. It is also very important to measure
the range of its implication and promoting and increasing mobility projects
for youngsters where the main engine is the youngsters themselves. This
action wills to evaluate the real dimension which has
had young people implication and participation in the
preparation, development, evaluation and assessment of projects carried
out with European countries. It is also expected the evaluation
and assessment of the methodology used for implying maximum use
young people, stimulating the role of leaders and organizations in the
support and the impulse of these methodologies.
This
action also wills to evaluate the assessment actions
of the different projects, developed in their origin community and the
multiplication of these actions, goals and conclusions. It will be evaluated
the level of understanding that young people has of the European Union
and the Youth in Action Programme in particular.
Assessment
actions with different participants will be valued as well. It is expected
to discuss good practices in techniques and methodologies from this meeting
– space and evaluation useful for young people in general and for
less favoured youngsters in particular so that they can star their own
projects and initiatives. A Methodology manual for the implication
of young people in international projects will be made for the
spread of these practices. It will be published in the Internet.
METHODOLOGY
It has been proposed a specially active and participative
methodology with experiences presentations giving a relevance to each
one of the participants and inducing a shared - learning situation through
direct instruction, discussion and work in group. The evaluation and self
– evaluation will be applied directly during all the process.
This learning – line application through discussin
and debate will be complemented bybrief presentations related with the
subject and focused in the following points:
- Active Citizenship, participation
and youth mobility,
- The evaluation process in youth
mobility programmes.
· Previous contact has been hold about these
presentations, subjects and methodology to develop.
ORGANIZATION, DATES AND PLACE OF CELEBRATION
The Seminar will take place from the 14th
to the 18th November 2007.
Sessions will be at CEMACAM, Torreguil, Murcia, Spain.
Participants
will be hosted in a residence, property of Caja de Ahorros del Mediterráneo
Savings Bank, CEMACAM, situated 10 kilometres away from the city of Murcia.
It is a meeting and a conference centre with double bedrooms with enough
meeting – rooms and a suitable space for large meetings. There is
also a new – technologies room enough equipped enough for this event.
Its location will help the development of activities and at the same time
it will favour the knowledge of the local community, culture, associations,
social life, ect,…

PRACTICAL INFORMATION ABOUT MURCIA:
Murcia
is the Capital – City of the Region
of Murcia. It is situated in South – Eastern Spain,
in the Mediterranean. The city is formed by a main node and more than
50 districts called ‘pedanías’. Nowadays its population
overcomes the 400,000 inhabitants. According to the lattest estimates

PROFILE AND NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
The
participants are responsible of programmes and departments of Youth Exchanges
in their organizations. They are able to make decisions. It is convenient
that for those delegations bringing two people, one of them will have
international responsibility.
All of them are engaged to participate in an
active manner in the preparation and the development of the meeting and
continuing the projects which will be produced.
Participants come from the following countries and associations:
ACTIVITY COST
Hosting,
internal trips, programmes and insurance hill be completely covered
by the organisation.
Participants will not have to pay any hosting, transportation or events
related to the programme.
These expenses will be covered only since the official
arrival till the departure dates (from the 14th till the 18th November,
included). This has no exception.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed according as we agreed with the organizations
(70% of its price).
As it is usual in the Platform Network meetings, every participant will
pay a participation fee. As the European Comission will finance the
event, the participation fee will be € 150.00 per participant.
This amount will be deposited in a City – Council account. The
receipt will be sent to the Youth Service of Murcia
City – Council.
